"Juicing Tuesday"

     It's Juicing/Blending Day!  Viewer Melanie is back with a new twist to her banana smoothie with a power protein punch, Roasted Unsalted Walnuts.  Also, she kicked it up a notch in adding an anti-inflammatory ingredient - Flax seeds (omega 3 ALA - alpha-lionlenic acid).

Banana Walnut Smoothie

Message:  "I made it because I luv bananas & walnuts and wanted to combine for a great smoothie!"

Shopping List

1 frozen roasted banana split lengthwise
1 cup of unsalted walnuts
4 cups of coconut water
1 tablespoon flax seeds
2 teaspoons of honey (optional)
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Appliance:  Cuisinart Blender

Ready to blend


  1. Freeze a roasted banana. (optional but it brings out the flavor)
  2. Take 1 cup of unsalted walnuts and soak the nuts in  some coconut water for 6 hours to soften.
  3. Puree the walnuts along with the coconut water they were soaking in and add the flax seeds as well.
  4. Then add the banana and remainder of coconut water.
  5. Add the honey. (optional)
  6. Puree until concoction is nice and smooth.
  7. Add the cinnamon for garnish.


The cinnamon almost makes it taste like a desert!
